Plan your visit
Reserve a table for dinner, ask for a place at the tables, or request both. A member of staff will reply in person.
Request a reservation
A table for dinner and a place at the tables for the evening are two separate requests. Please choose which you would like, or both, and tell us who will be in your party. Every request is read by a member of staff, never by a machine, and every request receives an answer.
From request to table
We read your request
Caroline reads every request in the order received. She checks the date against the book, the size of the party against the tables and any notes against the kitchen.
We reply to you
A reply follows by email or telephone, usually on the same day. It confirms the table, or suggests another time if the evening is full, and states plainly what has been arranged.
You arrive
On the evening, give your name at the door. If the party is delayed, a call to the house is all that is needed, and the table is held for fifteen minutes beyond the time agreed.
You dine, and you play
Dinner is served from half past five until eight. A place at the tables is offered when a seat is free, and a short waiting list is kept at the archway for the busiest nights.
You change or cancel
Plans alter, and we understand. Please telephone or write as early as possible if the reservation needs to change, so that the table can be offered to another party. No charge applies.
Tell us about allergies
If anyone in the party has an allergy or a dietary need, mention it in the notes box when you write, and again to the waiter when you sit down. The kitchen would much rather plan a meal in advance than improvise in the middle of service.
Plan your arrival
The house is on High Street, and the lamps over the door are lit from the first light of evening. Parking is available along the kerb, and a ramp serves the side entrance for anyone who needs it.
Bring identification
Every guest must be 18 or over, and identification may be asked for at the door. A driver licence, a passport or a proof-of-age card will serve, and anyone without one will be refused admission, however well known to the staff.
